Can the VideoPress player branding logo be removed?

  Hello,

  We are interested in using the VideoPress premium hosted and transcoding solution for playing our own copyrighted videos on our self-hosted WordPress site using the VideoPress v1.5 plugin.

  Before purchasing the annual $60 subscription and more space, we need to ensure that the videos we upload are NOT branded with “VideoPress” when played back from our site on any device/browser. While having our own branding on the videos would be nice, we are just happy with NONE being displayed!

  Kindly let us know how we can ensure no branding appears on playback?

  Hi there,

  I’m afraid that it’s not possible to remove the logo, and custom branding is only available to WordPress.com VIP users at this time.

  Thanks for the prompt reply Chris.

  We noticed that the VIP service costs $15K/year and that is beyond excessive when all we need is to just remove a proprietary banding logo from playback of our own copyrighted videos. If we were asking for custom logo creation and integration I could understand additional costs, but for removing a branding which is not truly embedded in the video and is as simple to hide for you as a code switch in your player, it is really unreasonable.

  We would really like to see a “store” option alongside the VideoPress option with “No branding on VideoPress Player” and it should really not cost more that $20-$40/year!

  For reference, were you aware that the Vimeo Plus service which costs exactly as much as VideoPress per year, and provides the same all device playback, has no branding on their player? Also that their PRO version offers custom branding with the client’s choice logo? We really expected WordPress to base pricing more on the real world and to be more competitive.

  Anyway, thank you for clarifying though, your prompt response is much appreciated.

  One further clarification is needed, if anyone knows:

  Is the “VideoPress” player branding present THROUGHOUT the playback of the video file, or just present on the static “PLAY” screen, before one presses the Play button?

  Does it go away after you press play?

  The branding is only present on the Flash player’s initial play screen.

  That is good to know and important Mac, Thank you for claryfing.

  I assume that also means that when the same video is displayed on an iPhone/iPad would not have that as they do not support the Flash player?

  Looking forward to see an option to hide that for a yearly fee as I mentioned, or even allow a custom logo watermark… So may options WordPress could offer here….

  That is correct, it won’t display when a native HTML5 play is used, like on the latest iOS devices.

  At this time, VIP is the only option that we have for removing the branding.
