Can there be an easier way to force a link into a new tab/window?

Recently I found that you can create a link by pasting the address into a highlighted word and WordPress creates a link automatically – But in order to force the link into a new tab you still needed to click on it and edit the link.

Could there be a faster way of doing this? I’d suggest a checkbox in the same popup dialog you get when the link is clicked.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can do this already but you have to click the link button rather than copying and pasting. Have a look at the second method on this page describing using links in the visual editor.

I know of this method, but copy and pasting into highlighted text is much faster.

What I’m after is either to have the option when you hover over the link or initially create the link.

It’s a good idea, so you’re posting in the right place, I just wanted to make sure you knew there was a way. Staff check these posts fairly often, hopefully they’ll think it’s worth including.
