Can this be done? Help crafting a widget.

    I run a small gaming community with little to no support from the folks that own the rights to the game. We run our own servers and META servers used to display privately owned servers to the rest of the community. Due to them being privately owned and opperated, the META servers are sometimes unreliable and go down for whatever reason. When this happens our users have to edit a .cfg file to change where they are connecting to avoid 45 second server list delays. I’m looking to create a widget that will ping these META’s and display a listing on my sidebar of which are online.
    I am terrible with coding, maybe someone could help me out?
