Can this be done with a Enterprise Blog

  • Unknown's avatar

I want to link my personal business website to a wordpress blog. I plan on using the blog as a way to feature community projects I’m working with/on.

Example: A local donut shop owner has agreed to a short new story. Pictures will be on both sites. With the info about the shop and behind the scenes on the blog.

I plan on using the $8 business.

Will this fall in line with the term of service agreement?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

To me, that sounds appropriate, but I can’t be 100% with you.

I am also having a hard time understanding your request? Are you trying to see if you can transfer the blogs together, or are you wanting to know if the blog you are making falls with the Terms of Service agreements?

I have a few links that can help you with this further:

    Terms Of Service
    User Guidelines

Please help me confirm on what you need, so that I can be able and help you further.
    Cheers :)

Thank You for the reply Alisson.

I have a portfolio website hosted by a different company.
I want to add a link to a blog here on wordpress.com
I want add a link on the wordpress.com blog to my portfolio site.
I plan on using a subdomain like: blog.mydomain.com for wordpress

    Under the link User Guidelines:

    Advertising.
Advertising isn’t permitted unless you use WordAds or have a WordPress.com VIP or Enterprise site.

If I use the $8 business plan that includes a Enterprise site, Can I link the two? I attend a WordPress meet was Told I could and Couldn’t. A google search lead me to a old forum post the was closed. Since that post was over 4years old, I don’t know if the information is still correct.

    Good Afternoon —

I have a portfolio website hosted by a different company.
I want to add a link to a blog here on wordpress.com
I want add a link on the wordpress.com blog to my portfolio site.

    — I’ll tag this as Modlook, for your request, as staff will better understand and get a better look into your account to help you further. I’ll be able to help with your other questions :)

I plan on using a subdomain like: blog.mydomain.com for wordpress

    — When you upgrade your plan, you’ll get a free domain included, in which it will let you choose which one you would like. If your subdomain link as you mentioned isn’t available, or cannot be used free, you would have to pay for your domain. You also might not get your domain specifications if the domain has already been taken. I will point out some helpful links at the bottom of my reply.

If I use the $8 business plan that includes a Enterprise site

    — The $8 that you a referring to is the Premium Plan, which is billed yearly, so in total would be about $96 + Tax, and fees. The Enterprise site ( A Business Website) is commonly used under the Business Plan on WordPress.com, which could be more useful for what you need.

Can I link the two? I attend a WordPress meet was Told I could and Couldn’t. A google search lead me to a old forum post the was closed. Since that post was over 4years old, I don’t know if the information is still correct.

    — So yes, as mentioned above, I’ve tagged this as Modlook, so staff will be replying about your request, and givr you further help.

I have a few helpful links here for you, to help you out as well:

    All About Domains
    Business plan
    Domain Mapping

I appreciate you replying back, and wish you success on your site. Please be patient as a staff member replies.

    Cheers :)

    Hi lightsubscriber,

I see @alissonhz has already answered most of your questions.

I want to add a link to a blog here on wordpress.com
I want add a link on the wordpress.com blog to my portfolio site.

A link to your existing portfolio could be added to the menu on your WordPress.com site. A custom link should do what you need:

    Menus

Migrating your portfolio projects to WordPress.com and using a portfolio theme may be something to consider if you would prefer to manage just one site.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank You Alisson for all the work you put in to answer my questions. I learned a lot from the links you post.

@gemmacevans will this custom link open a new window? if so is there a way to open the link in the same window as the portfolio site?

Hi @lightsubscriber — You’re very welcome! I want you to be happy using our platform 100%!

I’ll also be monitoring this thread for a few hours, and if no one replies (staff) then, I’ll tag this as Modlook again, so that staff could reply here again.

    Have a great evening!

    Hi lightsubscriber,

will this custom link open a new window?

When you add a link in My Sites > Customise > Menus, there should be the option to select “Open link in a new tab”. Once that option is selected, the link to your portfolio site will open in a new browser tab.

is there a way to open the link in the same window as the portfolio site?

There isn’t an option to open a menu link in a new window, only a new tab.

    I hope this helps!

    hi gemmacevans.

When you add a link in My Sites > Customise > Menus, there should be the option to select “Open link in a new tab”. Once that option is selected, the link to your portfolio site will open in a new browser tab.

Thank You. Worked like a charm
