Can users follow post comments, without commenting themselves?
-
I have a private site with limited users. I would like for them to be able to receive post comments via email, but without personally commenting.
After a post there is a “Notify me of follow-up comments via email” checkbox, but this only works when also leaving a comment. It’s possible users find a conversation interesting and would like to be notified of follow-up comments without wanting to add their voice to the conversation.
Can this be done?

Yes, anyone can follow comments without even commenting. Use the feed address like http://yourblogname.wordpress.com/comments/feed to let them subscribe. For your blog, it would be http:/osders.wordpress.com/comments/feed
Users can also follow specific tags in your blog. For example, if you have a tag “love”, users can follow all posts in that single tag with http://osders.wordpress.com/tag/love/feed
Just add /feed to whatever you want to let them subscribe. Thanks :-)

It’s confusing, but I think invited users can see the feeds from a private blog, at least as an admin on my private blogs I can see them.
http://BLOG.wordpress.com/comments/feed/
or for posts:
http://BLOG.wordpress.com/feed/Email subscriptions seem to be a different matter from RSS feeds.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/following-comments/When you leave a comment on a WordPress.com blog, you can choose to receive an email notification every time someone else leaves a comment on that post.
