Can Virus be put into messages on blogs?

I had looked in the forum but did not find anything that seemed to deal with this. I was asked today by a person on my blog “how one stops viruses from being posted to the blogs”
Is this a possibility? I am not very computer savvy, but I would like to know if this is possible.

I got that question too. I wondered about the comment…maybe it’s a new kind of spam?
In any case, the answer is no as far as I know for wordpress.com blogs, because of the security measures that the staff have taken in setting up the blogs. “Active” stuff like javascript and flash are not allowed, which vastly reduces the chances of anything nasty going around WordPress.

Yes and do not post the link. It’s a scam artist that’s spamming us. It’s characteristic of a scamming spammer is that they are too stupid to know they are stupid and thus they expect others to be stupid too. I moderate every comment and I’m fully aware that any BS group can register as a fundraising charity.

I received a bunch of them, too. It’s a clever message faking earnestness. I only caught on it was Spam when I refreshed the page and found four identical messages on other posts.

It’s best not to discuss here how we detect these low lives from the cess pits of hell or else we will be providing information to them on how to improve on their spamming and scamming. They ghost this public forum. Be very cautious about what you say.

There’s someone posting for help over at thte wp.org forums asking for help and linking to pages that contain virii trying to load. That concerns me a bit.

Yipes! So what is preventing the virus from loading then, WordPress or each user’s security measures?

Your virus protection. I update mine everyday on my laptop and my home systems. My boxes update every 6 hours.
