Can we add our own layout for a theme?

    Hi,

    Two questions:

    I finally found a cool photo that I would like to use for my header, am I able to use it even thought it is not really a “header photo?”

    Also, I want to find another theme that it will match in color and cannot find one. I am looking for one like an old parchment paper or vintage gothic (vampire)

    Are we able to create our own background like on MySpace or something similiar? If so, how do we do that?

    You can use any sort of image that you wish as a header image and the same for a background image. The following two links will show you which themes support custom headers and custom backgrounds.

    You can also use the feature filter on the themes page to filter for both custom header and custom background at the same time.

    I am trying to jazz up my blog to make it a lot cooler! I have been looking at other people’s and envy what they seem to be able to do. I am not tech savvy but am willing to learn!

    Okay, well after searching for days, I found a site that has free backgrounds/headers for blogs and I found the perfect one that I want.

    Now, this may sound dumb, but at the bottom was the code that I use to download the background. It was very long and the instructions said to go to Layout, edit HTML, delete anything in the box, then add code.

    I have no idea what this means. When I go to Appearances~Headers~Background, I don’t know where to put this code.

    I would really appreciate someone helping me. The forums are a wealth of information and I have learned a lot from you already.

    Don’t follow those instructions; you don’t have access to the header code at Wp.com. Just copy the image and use the Custom Header to upload it.

    Thank you! I realized I was looking under the Blogger section and not the WordPress section of her site.

    The WP section does not come up as beautiful as the Blogger one though!

    I am trying to do this…I want to find a theme with a background color to match the new header.

    Should I just use the theme I have, Strange Little Town, and change the color? Can I even do that?

    Some themes allow you to change backgrounds, and some don’t. If you know how to do CSS editing, you can buy the CSS upgrade and make the change to any theme, but if you don’t know CSS coding, don’t buy the upgrade.
