Can we have a WordPress.com version for destrop users?

    Hi:

I’ve noticed that the format for WordPress has switched over to a vertical, simplified, smartphone and mobile device friendly style, and away from a horizontal format with a lot more information.

Personally, I could do twitter or Facebook on a mobile device, but not an intelligent blog post. I need to be able to type on a keyboard for that. Why not have a separate template for desktop users, instead of having us all using a mobile device format for instagram or tweets?

What if there were simply 2 options. Say, 2 buttons. One for desktop configuration, and the other for mobile devices?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Use the Classic Dashboard and Editor.

That would be awesome if it were easy to do (I only see an option when I’m editing), and it would actually revert to the pre-recently-modified classic mode, and stay there. For example, the “full screen” editing option has been altered so that you actually get even less workable space than the new editor. Both have been converted for an Instagram audience, and alienating people who want to write intelligent articles and not just post selfies. That change happened in the last couple months.

And with the stats I have to change it EVERY time I use it. I have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the new mobile device format and click to get the old stats back. There doesn’t appear to be a permanent way of switching back.

So, for us people over 30, who prefer to work on a desktop and write longer, more serious articles, and pretty much never do selfies and are too old to be that narcissistic anyway, it would be great if we simply had the easy option of reverting EVERTHING back to the way it was mabye 6 months ago. Let’s say right in the “my sites” drop down menu having two options. “Blogging” and “Selife”, I mean “Classic” and “Mobile Device”.

Miraculously all complaints will be replaced with lavish praise. 2 clear, distinct options, each optimized for the platform. Everyone will be happy. And when we are using smartphones, we can switch to that format.

    Just a thought.

For the old editing page and the old stats page, I put bookmarks in my browser toolbar. Both pages are now a single click away. (Actually, WP set a cookie that remembers my preference for the old editor. I’m still waiting for them to do the same with the stats page.)
