Can we make our galleries into pages?

  I was wondering if there is anyway to make numbered pages to appear at the bottom of galleries such as 1,2,3,4,5
  In some of my pages I have over 500 images, and this takes a bit of time to fully upload.
  So, I am pitching thee idea to the wonderful wordpress team,
  can you design a code or a way to make Gallery images only show maybe 20 images to a page,
  and then at the bottom have numbered pages to see the rest of the gallery images. Thanks a wicked lot!
