Can we or can we not post Amazon Affiliate links and aStore links?

I am confused. The WordPress.com help section says, “There are exceptions to this policy. Amazon.com and other select affiliate links are permitted so long as they are not the primary content of the blog in question. Other exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis.” regarding affiliate links. However, answers to similar inquiries, for example: the aStore, forbid it. I just want to know if we can post a link on our blog to an Amazon aStore or affiliate links to Amazon.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your best bet is to create a post with the links you want in it and ask staff if it’s okay.

Amazon stores are not allowed. The only exceptions to the affiliate links policy are found here in italics:
Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs and get-rich-quick schemes (“Make six figures from home!!”, “20 easy steps to top profits!!”, etc). This includes multi-level marketing (MLM) blogs and pyramid schemes. To be clear, people writing their own original book, movie or game reviews and linking them to Amazon, or people linking to their own products on Etsy do NOT fall into this category. If you want to go into business, any successful business person will tell you there are start up costs involved. In the case of web hosting, those costs are pretty minimal.

Timethief, I do not want a wordpress.org. I just think wordpress.com lose a lot with these restictions.

No, they lose nothing at all. Remember, they make money by selling ads on WordPress.com sites. Affiliate programs and sales complicate that immensely and vastly increase the demand on support services (HEY I AM TRYING TO MAKE MONEY HERE).

I don’t feel the same way at all. I have been in business for over 30 years. My advice is the same as raincoaster’s advice. If you want to go into business then recognize the reality that takes spending a little money to make more money.

Agreed 100% and as soon as that happens the blogging environment and support forum environment becomes uglier day by day. I’m now recalling how many hours and even months I put in reporting Blogger blogs to their support forum for affiliate marketing and for click fraud.

Disagree completely, you are only viewing the extreme. And, in theory, we could spend a little to have our own advertisements (the “no ads” upgrade must should allow this).
“raincoaster”, they (we) are losing a lot, a lot of creative people for example. Not for any other reason, in the past two years the new features and themes tastes of Tumblr.
