Can WordPress help remove ads for public school pages?

I emailed the following letter to support@wordpress.com and it bounced back:

    Hello WordPress Team,

I teach visual art at Gateway High School in San Francisco. I’ve always maintained an online gallery for my young artists for the public, for parents and for potential collaborators to access. I switched from Blogspot to WordPress a couple years ago and love how attractive and easy to use WordPress is!

Unfortunately, I began to notice inappropriate ads popping up on our school WordPress. I know you offer a $100 ad-free version, but we cannot afford that as a public school. The ads look very unprofessional and degrade the student artwork.

Would WordPress be willing and able to offer some financial assistance so that our parents and school community can access a beautiful online gallery? We are also a charter and have non-profit status for tax purposes. Otherwise, we will need to relocate our online gallery to a different host.

Thank you so much for understanding. We look forward to your reply.

    Sincerely
    Nicole

You will have to purchase the Premium Upgrade bundle that includes a No-Ads upgrade to remove all ads . See here for details on purchasing the annually renewable Premium bundle http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/

We all pay in full at the time of purchase. There are no discounts for schools, non-profits or any other “class” of users. The annual subscription is the same for all of us.

Please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when Staff respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

It will no difference that I have tagged this thread for a Staff response because they will tell you exactly what I did above. WordPress.com provides free blogs and free hosting to non-profits and schools all over the world and assuming they will give you a discount is unrealistic. Your case is not a special case. WordPress.COM does not provide discounts for non-profits or another discriminatory factors. We all pay full for every upgrade at the time of purchase. Without the upgrade in place the ads will not be removed form your blog.

P.S. Have you noticed https://en.support.wordpress.com/gift-upgrades/? Perhaps a benefactor will make the Premium bundle upgrade purchase for your non-profit.

All wordpress.COM ads are family friendly ads.

To off-set the costs of providing free hosting to millions of bloggers, WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. If the ads you see are found at the end of blog posts then provided you see this small About These Ads link what you are seeing is WordPress.com generated advertising. http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/

Any other ads appearing to you are not placed by WordPress.com. If you see any other ads then you could have an issue on your browser or computer. Unfortunately they can be being placed there by software on your own computer or your visitors’. Such ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus, but more often it is due to a browser extension or adware found in some games and shopping sites and toolbars that may have been installed in a browser.

These sites have further explanation and suggestions for eliminating the ads:
