Can wordpress release my domain name to wild west (registrar)

  I had a misunderstanding with one of your representatives, they cancelled my domain after i advised them that i wanted to keep ownership, I am trying to reuse the domain with a different host and it is saying tht the domain name is already taken. I called wild west, the domain registrar, and they advised me that word press has not cancelled the domain. So #1 I need to know if the domain is cancelled or not, #2 is so when will it be released. or if not can i transfer it.

  Once a domain is canceled, it becomes the property of our registrar and is returned to the public pool at their discretion.

  There are several warnings about this in the cancelation confirmation, and we unfortunately do not have control over this process.
