Can you add a second ‘Posts’ page to your Blog?
-
Hi all.
Sorry if this questions is too basic but I’m brand new to this. I was wondering if there is a way to create an additional page that functions like the main Posts page? I see how you can create additional pages but it looks they are only good for one long post…is that right? I prefer the format of the main “Blog’ page where you can multiple posts and individual items …hope this makes sense…thanks so much for any help.

I have really no idea (I’m a total idiot when it comes to computers) but I’m curious to know if this is possible too. Please help! Thanks alot. =)

@citizendesignstudio-Not on WordPress.COM. This can be done on self-hosted wordpress. Since you haven’t given a link to your WP.COM blog, we can’t know what program you’re using.
Pages are good for static information, and as such, not so much “one long post”. The Posts (blog) page is the only one that generates its own RSS feed too.

@citizendesignstudio: Please give a link to your blog when asking questions, so we can see if you’re in the right forum and what goes on in your blog.
Now, assuming you do have a wp.COM blog, why exactly would you like to have a “second posts page”? Are you using the Categories widget?

Twisting things again, diamondfistwerny? “When asking questions”, it says above. I’ve never asked for help in this forum. As I have repeatedly explained in past threads, “seeing what goes on in one’s blog” means that often we have to see the blog itself (including its source code) to find out what a problem is and suggest the proper solution.

It’s just odd to have someone request that a link be provided when they don’t even have a link. That’s all. Didn’t realize that statement was a twisting of sorts. Just looking at it from the questioner’s perspective. You ought to give it a shot. Maybe you wouldn’t get so defensive around me :P

@diamondfistwerny: You’re feeling attacked after going round from thread to thread attacking ME (because you happened not to like ONE post of mine), after reading things into what I said, and after my agreeing with you in another thread? You are confused, indeed.

@ Panag I thought that mtdew said to stop hijacking?

/backstage growl being said through my teeth: kindly knock off the OT stuff.
A WordPress.COM blog still only contains one Posts page. As pana hinted, you can dynamically call up a Page containing Posts of a certain Category by using the Category widget, but technically it still is one Posts page, just displayed differently.
‘night all. Tomorrow is another, hopefully more relaxed, day.

We’ve seen that repeatedly. But (Paging Andy) can we get BuddyPress up in here so that fights like that can get taken to PM? That would be super!

Hey All – Thanks for the feedback (minus the web drama). Link is http://citizendesignstudio.wordpress.com. I would like to be able to post to the ‘Design Tips & Products’ page just like I have started doing on the main page…thanks again for any help.

You cannot have two separate blog pages to post to at wordpress.COM, only one. What you can do is have two separate categories and then categorize your posts appropriately and set a static front page with links to those two categories. When someone clicks on one of the links, they will be taken to the category page with just those posts on them.

@citizendesignstudio: As justjennifer and thesacredpath said, technically there can only be one main posts page. As I had already hinted at, you could simply turn “Design Tips” into a category. And as justjennifer hinted at, if what you want is to have that header tab lead to posts, it’s possible – here’s how:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/adding-posts-to-a-page?replies=3#post-265042Another simple way could be pasting links to those future posts in the page.
Do you also mean you don’t want those posts to show up along with the others? If so, a simple solution is thesacredpath’s suggestion.
(If you REALLY want two post pages, with no static front, there is a far-fetched solution which I hope you wouldn’t care for.)
