Can you add a tag to an old post when editing?

Hi – I searched for this in the FAQs and on the forum and couldn’t find anything to do with adding tags while editing posts. If you suddenly think of a tag after making a post, can you add the tag via the edit post function? I tried to do that, but it just hung. Wouldn’t let me do it.

Gave it another shot and it doesn’t work. I go into Manage, find the line and hit edit. I am trying to add a tag by checking a box off my list. I check the box and this is where it simply hangs. After about five minutes I just hit save to get out again. No updated tag.

I’ve had no problem with this, I add tag first…..then edit an old post and the newly created tag is available to tick and apply to it. I’ve tried creating a new tag on the fly but that don’t seem to work for me….it’s no biggie, I have a way to do it. I have noticed it lists them alphabetically, but in 2 parts of the same list. All the tags already applying to the post listed first alphabetically then the rest of the tags listed alphabetically……it’s easy to lose one in there and think it didn’t work if you have quite a few.

Odd. Maybe try typing the tag (even though it already exists) into the Category box and see what happens?

letterstohome: i get that problem all the time, but i use dial-up. when i add a category via edit post, it takes forever to get it added, and even when it does it sometimes doesn’t save. why not try doing it in the manage categories section of dashboard? at least that’s more reliable and less frustrating, even if it’s a step longer.
