Can you change back to a previous blog name?

    Hi

    1) I changed the blog URL but I need to change it back to what it was. Is this possible? I went to change it back to what it was having deleted it, but it says that it’s in use – but if you go to the site with the URL I want to change to, it says that the owner has deleted it.

    2) I want to change the NAME of the blog but cannot see how to do that at all – anywhere.

    Help please?!

    You cannot register any deleted blog URL. Deleting any .wordpress.com blog URL is not easily done and what you ask to do is not possible. One has to ignore at least three warnings stating that deletion is permanent and irreversible and then click a verification link in an email to delete a blog. That’s because deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made. http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

    You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

    Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.

    The guide is here http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/ and makes it clear that changing a URL is a permanent and irreversible act. No changed or deleted blog URLs are recycled here, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

    re: changing a site title or tagline
    The Site title (blog name) and/or the optional Tagline can be changed on the top of this page at any time. > Settings > General … “save changes”.

    That is exactly where search engine spiders look for the site title and removing it from there can cause issues with getting your content indexed. Note that the site title (blog name) and blog address URL do not have to be the same but it’s better for SEO (search engine optimization) if they are the same.
