Thank You for your help but it does not work this way.

I have “Author” selected in “Screen Options”.

There is no “Author” box in the right-hand column. In the “Publish”-box I only have “Status”, “Visibility”, “Revisions” and “Published on”, and that’s all.

It is the same for “Posts”, no “Author” even though it is selected in “Screen Options”.

    Using Classic Editor.

I would like to add a screenshot but apparently there is no way to do that here.

@orangedevilsfan First of all, in order for a site Admin or Editor to change the Author of a post or page, you need to have more than one user on your site (Admin, Editor, Author, Contributor). Here’s more on User Roles https://wordpress.com/support/invite-people/user-roles/

If your account is either an Admin or an Editor on that site, you should be able to change the Page author as was mentioned above by @sikhadoai If don’t see Author in the Classic Editor sidebar, look beneath the text entry box. If it’s not there, check again in the Screen Options tab at the top right of your browser window or change the number of columns displayed to see if that doesn’t shake it loose.

Just also mentioning that Pages do not automatically display who authored them like Posts do. You can set an Author for a page, but it won’t appear publicly. You can, however, add your own byline to the page itself.

    Hope that also helps.

That was a good advice, and I’m grateful!

At the end of the editing space there IS an “Author”-box. It works in a peculiar way though. When I’m editing a Page the other person shows in the box only if his role is “Administrator” or “Editor”. If his role is “Author” or “Contributor” he doesn’t show up. However, when I’m editing a Post he shows up whatever his role is. I guess there is logic behind this but I cannot figure out what it is.

I was planning to give a person access to a Page on his special area of expertise, and the only way to do that is to give him access to all Posts and Pages which worries me a bit.

    You’re welcome!

TBH, I’m not sure about that either as I haven’t been an Admin or Editor on a multiauthor site for quite some time now and it seems odd it would work differently for Pages. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Regardless, I believe that only Admins and Editors have access to Pages.

Does “access” mean the Page is published or is it a Draft written by another user?

If you are concerned about security, another option would be a shared document not on WordPress.com that you can incorporate any changes that other user makes.

    Sorry, needed to clarify better.

…Admins and Editors have access to Pages *in the dashboard*.

Does “access” *in your comment* mean the Page…

When I’m editing a Page the other person shows in the box only if his role is “Administrator” or “Editor”. If his role is “Author” or “Contributor” he doesn’t show up.

I believe that only Admins and Editors have access to Pages.

After investigating this a bit more, it appears that this indeed is how Pages work. Only Admins and Editors can create/access Pages, so it does make sense that only they will show up in the “Author” module.

Besides an external shared document, you could add someone to your site as a Contributor and they could write their “page” as a Post. As a Contributor they would not be able to Publish it themselves. To make it a Page, however, you or another Admin or Editor would need to copy/paste the contents of the Contributor’s post and paste it into a Page and publish it.

Again Author name isn’t displayed on pages, but you can add a byline if you need to credit someone for creating its contents.

Hope that helps clarify further, but please post back here if you need more help with this.
