Can you change the color of the wordprss audio player?
-
I was wondering if we could use Values to change the color properties of WordPress’s audio player? Something like [audio link|bgcolor=FFFFFF|rightbg=33FF33]
I guess i mean to ask if WordPress supports different values in its audio player.
-
Best bet would be to submit that idea via feedback from your dashboard. The original plugin it’s based on, you could do it. All that stuff has been stripped out for the wp.com install.
-
I don’t think it has any CSS attributes looking at the source, so I am not sure if you can without editing the flash file (which we can’t). Report back what staff tell you because I am sure others would like to know this as well!

Ya i thought you couldn’t. Its just that it looks ugly as it is – and some color can spice things up.
-
With the CSS upgrade you should be able to put a coloured frame around it, if nothing else.
-
You don’t need a CSS upgrade, the format worked for me: [audio link|option=value]
where option can be:
autostart=yes The player will automatically open and start to play the track (default value is no)
loop=yes The track will be looped indefinitely (default value is no)
bg=0xHHHHHH Background colour option (where HHHHHH is a valid hexadecimal colour value such as FFFFFF or 009933)
leftbg=0xHHHHHH Left background colour
rightbg=0xHHHHHH Right background colour
rightbghover=0xHHHHHH Right background colour (hover)
lefticon=0xHHHHHH Left icon colour
righticon=0xHHHHHH Right icon colour
righticonhover=0xHHHHHH Right icon colour (hover)
text=0xHHHHHH Text colour
slider=0xHHHHHH Slider colour
loader=0xHHHHHH Loader bar colour
track=0xHHHHHH Progress track colour
border=0xHHHHHH Progress track border colour -
Is this relevant to WordPress.com’s proprietary audio player? This is the support forum for WordPress.com hosted blogs only. We do not have access to the code, and so your answer does not appear to apply to our blogs at all.
Have you read the thread at the top of the forum marked “Read Me First?”

ekotysh,
Thanks for sharing how to change the colors of the player!
rain,
Yes, this is for worpress.com blogs. I tested the above by modifying some color properties and it worked ;)
BTW, can I have your email address? If that’s okay, could you please leave it in a comment on the test page? Thanks.
-
Okay, thanks for clearing that up. How, exactly, does one get to those codes and where does one tinker with that?

claudecf,
Thanks for the thanks but honestly, the credit should go to ekotysh, I just tested it to see if it worked :)
-
Sorry, ekotysh! Thank YOU! I guess I just read the last part of the thread! I’m just so pleased that the audio player can be tweaked this way

This seems to be the solution to something I’ve hated about my music blog, but I can’t seem to get all the codes right. In particular, the hideous white strip that the whole player seems to sit on. I’m sure I’m being stupid, but I can’t see which property controls that. I assumed “bg”, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Can someone help me see what I’m missing?
Here’s what I’m working on in my lab rat blog:
http://guineapig.wordpress.com/2007/06/19/another-post/
…and here’s the audio code I’ve got for that:
[audio=http://www.box.net/shared/static/b9h7k96u0h.mp3|bg=0x161410|leftbg=0x363430|rightbg=0x363430|lefticon=0xbd934f|righticon=0xbd934f|border=0x161410|righticonhover=0x161410|track=0x161410|slider=0x993300|loader=0x363430]
So, what am I not seeing? How do I get rid of the white background? Thanks for any help.
-
Ok, I see I should have done something to break that line. Sorry!! What’s the etiquette? Redo my comment, or make people scroll?
-
Leave it the way it is, people can scroll but you’ll have to wait until one of the code guru’s come around. They all have day jobs, so it may be a couple hours from now before one shows up. We never know.

You cannot change the background color. I’ve been trying that myself but no dice. The background color is defined in the param tag and CSS doesn’t ‘work’ with that tag, unfortunately…
-
Thanks for the reply. Man, that’s disappointing, since the background color is the one part that really clashes and should, in principle, be set up to fade into the background of the blog. I guess this is another .com vs .org issue, because I’ve seen blogs with this player with a color coordinated background. I sent feedback about this when I first came on-line last June and was told they were thinking about it (or something similar) and hoped this was it. Well, anyway…. not the biggest problem on the planet, by any means.
