Can you check if I mapped the domain properly?

I have attempted following http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/ to map my existing domain to my WordPress blog, and have paid the $13 for the upgrade, but when I go to open my site, it says server not found. I called my domain registrar (1and1) and they told me that because the error says “server not found”, they say that this is a WordPress issue and that I should contact WordPress I don’t really think it is, but I feel like it might just be a configuration issue. I’ve followed the instructions in the link above, but if it’s not working still, is there a way to check if the domain is mapped properly?

I tried to map a subdomain, and I have had better luck – the domain helper tells me that the nameserver is validated, and shows the nameservers as ns1, ns2, ns3.wordpress.com, but it also tells me that i need to wait 72 hours. It’s weird because for the subdomain, I just forwarded the destination to the wordpress blog, and I didn’t fill out any nameserver info, so I’m not sure how it’s getting that…

When I check my main domain with the domain helper, it says no domain mapping found. :(

I’m not sure what I’m missing, and 1and1’s customer service kind of a waste of time. If anyone happens to have documentation specific to mapping your domain from 1and1 to wordpress, I would greatly appreciate it!

  • You purchased a Site Redirect upgrade, not a Domain Mapping upgrade.

Site Redirect is essentially the opposite of Domain Mapping and designed to direct your WordPress.com blog URL to a site that exists elsewhere.

I have canceled and refunded this so you can purchase a Domain Mapping upgrade.
