Can you do SEO on a "Personal" plan?

    Hi All,

I’ll cut a long story short, but I recently created a business website in Wix for myself, which I later discovered was almost impossible to get SEO done (or at least achieve a good ranking).

I done some research and found that WordPress was one of the best free site builders which supports and is great for SEO all-round.

I’ve now finished the site, but I need to connect it to my custom domain name which GoDaddy hosts. There are 3 options, “Personal”, “Premium” or “Business”.

Only the “Business” plan gives you access to SEO Tools, but I’m wondering if I can still do my own SEO with a “Personal” plan. I’m not bad at HTML and can work through guides etc. but I don’t know if perhaps WordPress would block access to certain elements that I could’ve edited if I went for a “Business” plan.

An SEO company have also stated that the plans they offer aren’t necessary and that they can connect my site to my custom domain and do the SEO for £199, but I’m just unsure of what to go for at this point.

Thanks for anyone’s help in advance.

  • Hello –

You are correct, the WordPress.com Business Plan is needed to get access to the SEO Tools.

That said, the best SEO starts with great content. Regular postings with good titles will help immensely.

You can upgrade your plan at any time if you decide to start with Personal instead of Business.

Have you seen this guide already https://en.support.wordpress.com/seo/?

I’m happy to answer any follow up questions.
