Can you edit the html on a wordpress.com hosted site.

I need to be able to add ad spots (I have own ad server I just need to place the code in) and edit some of the HTML to make the header and nav bar look like main website. Can I achieve this on wordpress.com or should I go the self host route? Will the $30 upgrade make these things capable or does it just give you access to the css.

The answer is “no” but please read on so you are well informed. There is only one advertising program called WordAds at WordPress.com. It’s for blogs on their own domains. CSS editing cannot be used to place ads on your blog.
