Can you explain why I cant make my page look like the thumbnail of my theme?

Hi, I’m just trying to get my head around making my site look the way I want it to. Now I’m using the free service so I have to imagine that its not as coustomizable as if I were paying however, I’m using a free theme called board walk and in the thumb nail it looks really nice. I like how each blog post is a picture. Yet since I’ve been tinkering with it to try and figure it out, each blog post is just a large field of green. How do I make the blog tab a picture. I understand that this is probably very vague, I’m sorry if I’m not doing a very good job of describing the issue. maybe if you look at the thumb nail for the theme board walk and then look at my page it might help explain. If you need me to clarify I can try. I look forward to your response.responce

Don’t start with the picture: start with the instructions. https://wordpress.com/themes/boardwalk/ Read all the way through and pay particular attention to whether your theme uses Featured Images.

I am having the same issue. I can’t figure out out how to have my posts include a Featured Image instead of a green box. And while raincoaster told the other guy to read the instructions, there are no instructions.

The Boardwalk theme obviously can have featured images on the home page since that what it shows in the demo site, but I can not see how to get the images in there.Any help would be appreciated.

Did you go to the Support docs and type “Featured Image” into the search box?

No, and maybe that is the problem. I don’t know where to find the support docs for boardwalk.
