Can you get a DIRECT link to the image file?
-
Hello! So I can get a URL to a .jpg image I have in my media collection (e.g.: https://refwarehouse.files.wordpress.com/2021/09/00324.jpg), but it randomly resolves either directly to the image (nothing else on screen but the image) or to a WordPress page with the image in the middle and with ‘WordPress app’ links at the bottom, ‘Start Your Own Site’ link in the top right, etc. So the question is – how can I always get a DIRECT link the JPG itself, without the page around it?

Hi there,
So the question is – how can I always get a DIRECT link the JPG itself, without the page around it?
That is the direct URL to the image, but we add advertising on free sites to help keep the lights on. If you would like to have your image permalinks resolve to an image without the extra stuff, you can upgrade to any of the plans listed here, and it will be removed so only the source image is linked.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi Jerry,
Thanks, I see.
So I tried enabling the Personal subscription, following your advice, and I see that it pretty much forces me to change the domain name. Can I keep it?

Hi again,
If you upgrade, all our plans include the option to set a custom web and remove wordpress.com from your site URL, but it’s totally optional. We have many site owners who upgrade but keep their WordPress.com address and that’s just fine.
If you upgrade, the URL of your images will not change.
Hope this helps!

Hey Jerry,
Thanks for your help yesterday.
I did buy a Personal sub and it seemed like the site name would remain the same, but now I see there’s a 2nd site “pending” (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cuuxtvH8CNzl2sLH12f-tfiYPV5VQm9B/view?usp=sharing). The original site name is refwarehouse.wordpress.com, the new one is refwarehousecom.wordpress.com. And I see that old site’s images still have the extra stuff around them. That’s not what I was after.
Please advise..Best regards,
Nick -
You needed to be logged in to refwarehouse.wordpress.com. and then just click on “upgrade” in ther blue lefthand menu rather than create a brand new site. This thread is tagged for staff assistance.

The plan you purchased is applied to https://refwarehouse.wordpress.com/ but you have not yet added a custom domain: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/register-domain/
You can delete the undesired site by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/delete-site/

I believe the OP didn’t want to change from his original address but wanted the upgrade to solve his issues with images.

Hey there, FWIW when looking at the linked image previously, the free site image landing page was present. Now when I look at that link, I see the image without that landing page.
If you aren’t seeing that, try hard refreshing your browser tab/window.

Hey all, thank you for your input!
@justjennifer – correct, if you open the URL – it sometimes opens as an image, sometimes as a page. If you refresh the page – sometimes it changes back and forth. I could never figure out how to control this behavior. This is how it looks most of the time: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10idjsBEF3efCS5nvCaeeCnZ3u40PXXMs/view?usp=sharing
This is how sometimes THE SAME exact URL looks: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10oQ-ll_Qt2l_B7YpT1MwbZFKX6yfEm-z/view?usp=sharing
@themagicrobot, yes thank you :) I don’t want to change anything, I just want the .jpg-ending URLs to open a .jpg image.staff-blorbo, ok thank you, I deleted the “undesired” new pending site.
So I do have the subscription now, but the question remains :) How do I make the images open directly?

Curious. It was my understanding from this earlier Staff reply that sites that have a paid upgrade don’t get that image landing page.
How are you wanting to use those images?
If I look at your associated WordPress.com website, I see a gallery of images on each product’s page. If you click on that you get the image carousel and in the carousel you can choose to view the full size image.

Good morning,
It’s a image bank for my occasional online sales. And marketplaces require an image URL ending in the file format. No pages, no ads, no carousels, just a direct image link. -
Please be aware of our User Guidelines which states:
Hotlinking to WordPress.com.
Other than via VideoPress, your WordPress.com site shouldn’t host files that will only be used on other sites. If that is the sole purpose of your site, then we can cancel and refund your Personal plan purchase.
I hope that clarifies things!
