Can you give more information about the business plan?

    Hi there,

I am very interested in signing up to your business plan, however I have some questions:

    – I have a domain with oneandone, how easy will it be to use my existing domain with you? I have had problems getting the domain to work with wix in the past.
    – We have an event listings section in our newspaper and I would like to have a calendar function on our site. Can you advise on whether this would be possible, and how user friendly (on both the site and the front end) it would be?

I must admit, I’m currently put off spending $299 on a yearly plan when I have to post my questions to a community rather than a clear email address/contact us form – it is a lot of money to spend without an assurance of real customer service.

    Many thanks,

    Emma

    Hi there,
See here for details of all 3 plans http://store.wordpress.com/bundles/

This is done here day in and day out without any issues. See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

    Purchasing upgrades:
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard and purchase upgrades at > Store > My Upgrades
Your billing history will be at Dashboard > Store > Billing History
Your options for payment are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/

Note that the free plan and the Premium plan do not allow you to upload your own themes or plugins. WordPress.com blogs cannot be equipped for eCommerce transactions unless they have the Business upgrade. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/ecommerce-is-now-available-on-wordpresscom?replies=1

If you need a site that requires a custom theme or plugins — e.g., if you want to be able to sell things directly from your site, or if you want to install discussion forums — a self-hosted WordPress site might be right for you. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database. Learn about the differences here. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Thank you for replying so quickly!

I understand these may seem stupid questions, and can see that they are partly answered on the forums, but it is hard to be sure without actually seeing it in action.

If we use the calendar function, we don’t want to sell tickets to things, we only want to list multiple events happening in the city, potentially with links to their website.

Do all of the events have to have pictures? How much control would we have over the design?

Would it be branded eventbrite? Would we be able to add it as a plug in to one of the pre-bought themed sites, or do we have to do a self hosted WordPress site in order to install ‘extras’?

    Many thanks for your comments…

You basically have very, very VERY minimal control over the design of the calendar. You don’t have to have pictures in your events, but it’s a good idea. It will say Eventbrite theme down where your blog says Blog at WordPress.com.

You can’t add plugins to a WP.com blog. What “extras” did you have in mind?

You can embed an Eventbrite calendar into an externally hosted blog using software from WordPress.org; they give you the code for that on your Eventbrite event page.
