can you have an upgraded theme and seperate blog attached?

  Hi Im looking to purchase an upgraded theme and domain name to use as an artists portfolio. However I want my blog to stay the same and not have the purchased theme. Is it possible to have an upgraded theme to use as a website and a seperate blog attached to it? Thank you

  Yes, register another wordpress.com blog for your portfolio, purchase the domain mapping upgrade and a premium theme for it. Your existing blog will not be affected in any way.

  Once you have your new blog set up and domain mapped and the prmium themes is installed you can create a custom menu. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/ Then you can add a custom link to your existing blog into that custom menu. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-custom-links
