Can you have different headers

Hi there
Is it possible to have different headers on blog posts – I can see there is a random selection – but is there a way to select the header you wish to use on each blog post?

There’s no theme that works that way here. You can sort of fake it with a theme with NO header but prominent featured images, though.

Oh thanks – Shame I have 3 main categories and it have been nice to have an image for each..
The work round – Is that the featured image section on the bottom right of the page? I just saw somewhere else you have to have that at a set size in order for it to go on the header………. if thats right do you know what size it has to be?………

It all depends on the theme. And Category pages never have header/featured images, so that won’t help if that’s what you want. Featured Images only go on individual posts.

To display a different header image when you view a single post, you need to set a featured image to that post. The image has to be in the dimensions required for a header image (or larger). If you mean one of the images you can see in Appearance > Header, you need to copy the image to your computer then upload it via the Add Media tool of the post. -
2011 works like that which I see is what you have, I started a while back using a different header for most posts, and for most of my pages. Have a look at my blog if you want some examples http://roughseasinthemed.wordpress.com.
I don’t know if anyone except me notices, but I like it.
It’s exactly as justpi says, from your gallery set a featured image, I find 1000 will do it. If you use a picture that is deeper than the measurements for headers, then it takes an arbitrary crop, usually in the middle of the pic. So, I’ve made separate header pix for some of my recent ones to get the exact header I wanted.

I’ve just had another look, and I don’t see any categories listed on your blog, so when you said categories, did you mean pages? Anyway, it works, so have a fiddle and come back if you have any probs.

Hmm still having problems guys………… I have removed the header from appearance and uploaded a 1000 pixel image as a feature but its still not showing…. any ideas?

A featured image in the right dimensions replaces the regular header image when you view a single post: it cannot show up if you have removed the regular header image.
