Can you have Featured Content in other pages? (Static Start Page)

    Hi. I’ve experimented with themes that have featured content and themes that don’t. I can only, however, get featured posts to display on the automatically-generated “blog” page, I can’t get them to display elsewhere, on any theme.

    Is that how it’s supposed to work, or am I misssing somehing?

    Hi,

    If your goal is to display a featured content section (slider or other feature) at a variety of locations of your choice on a site, I’m not aware of any WordPress.com themes that have this flexibility regarding featured content. For those with the Business Plan and those on the self-hosted version of WordPress there might be plugins available that may produce something similar to the various featured content features built into this or that WordPress.com theme, and allow choice of location.

    Available options on free sites include the following:

    The Sketch theme is exceptional in that it can display a slider on any page with the Portfolio Page Template assigned. There may be others in which this is possible that I can’t recall at the moment.

    Also, Slider themes may or may not display the slider on a static page when it is set as the front page. I tested a few of the free ones with the following results:
