    Can you have more than one portfolio page template in a site, each displaying different images

    The Portfolio Page Template replaces the front page and you can only have one front page, right?

    So I want to have a structure like this
    Home
    Services
    Weddings
    etc
    …
    and these are all set up as picture links on the home page (Illustratr)

    then when I go to the Services page, I was hoping to make two more clickable pictures that split services into
    Regular
    Christmas

    Any suggestions how best to do that?
    Currently those submenus aren’t showing up…

    Hi there,

    The Portfolio Page Template in the Illustratr theme will display all of your portfolio items — there isn’t a way to use that particular template to display different portfolio items.

    However, you can use project types and project tags (similar to categories and tags on blog posts) to manage your portfolio items. Then, you can link to the project type archive or the project tag archive to view portfolio items with each type or tag. Those links will look similar to this:

    • Project Type Archive – http://yourgroovysite.wordpress.com/project-type/project-type-slug/
    • Project Tag Archive – http://yourgroovysite.wordpress.com/project-tag/project-tag-slug/

    You can even set those up as image links so each image links to a particular project type or project tag archive page.

    In the live demo it seems that the home page is set up as a portfolio page but then there is another option in the menu called portfolio wich looks like the porfolio template as well.
    I guess the home page is using links and the sortcode [project] to look like the portfolio one. Am I right?
    If so can you explain the process because I don´t really know how to link a project from the portfolio to look that way in the home page.

    The front page you see in the Illustratr demo is the Illustratr theme’s Portfolio Page Template. You can customize the text that appears at the top of the page, but the portfolio projects are all added automatically below it.

    The demo’s portfolio page at http://illustratrdemo.wordpress.com/portfolio/ is the default portfolio page you get whenever you enable portfolio projects (in any theme). That page displays all of your portfolio projects automatically without any of the additional things you see in the Illustratr Portfolio Page Template.

    In both cases, all of the portfolio projects are added to the page automatically.
