Can you have more than one theme?

I’m interested in creating a “site” that incorporates both static pages *and* a blog. I know how to create these different types of content. My issue is with the themes. As far as I can tell, you can only have one theme within a “site.” Is this true? It’s not that I want to change the general design so much as I want to be able to configure the site so that when the user is on the blog page they see certain widgets, but when they’re on a static page, they don’t. I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that I would need two different themes to do that since making these changes seems to be a global action.
