Can you help — blog is stuck on old blogpost?

When I view my blog on my laptop, it automatically goes to an earlier post and nothing I have done — clear cache and cookies, refresh it — seems to get it unstuck. I have the same problem on Firefox, Chrome and Safari, so apparently it’s something I’ve done wrong in WordPress. Can you help? Thanks!!

  • Howdy,

    I’ll be happy to help!

There appears to be at least two posts with stray and/or improperly nested HTML tags (div, dd, dl) that causes the theme to “break”.

I’ve fixed the “Breakfast for Two in Barcelona = 4 Euros” (since that was the newest one that seemed broken when viewing limiting your blog posts page to display one at a time), and you can compare the post revisions on the Edit Post screen.

The second one (“Barcelona at the Molecular Level“) is a bit more involved and I didn’t want to make changes without your permission.

So, on the Edit Post screen for that particular post, can you switch to the text editor, remove the code I’ve outlined in this screenshot, then reinsert those images with the Add Media button?

(You won’t need to upload the images again. They’ll appear in the gallery tab after clicking the Add Media button.)

Wow Bryan … thank you so much for your help. You have such a thoughtful and sensitive approach to helping me fix the blog.

I’m going to tackle these things first thing in the morning (have been out to daughter’s B-day party tonight,) and I can’t wait to get things working again. All these things help me go screaming up the learning curve on WordPress.

I was ill this summer from something I picked up in West Africa and my darlin’ daughter admonished me not to blog until I felt better. (I went to Barcelona sick to see her when she was studying abroad after that and that didn’t help things.) Apparently I screwed up all kinds of stuff when I wasn’t feeling well. But I feel better now and I’m ready to tackle the blog, the technical stuff, whatever.

Thank you!!! I’ll let you know how it goes.

    Best,
    Carol

  • I’m sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling well, but elated that you’re ready for action again.

(Also, I hope your daughter had a lovely birthday party!)

You’re welcome, Carol! Please let me know if you have any other questions, or if editing that post didn’t fix things, and I’ll dig into it some more. :-)
