Can you help me because I can't find my blog using the url in the address bar

  • Unknown's avatar

I set up a blog (blogdotpacificwilddotorg.wordpress.com) then mapped it to our domain (blog.pacificwild.org), which was successful. But I have never been able to type in either url into the address bar and access the blog. I have asked on the forums, but nobody can deduce what the issue is. Why can’t anybody read the blog!?

As an aside, when I created the blog I created it as blog.pacificwild.org.wordpress.com, but for some reason it spelled out the ‘dot’s for me- why? Can we fix it? I know it’s not a big deal since the address we will use is blog.pacificwild.org, but it bugs me!

    Thanks,

    Becca
    Blog url: http://blogdotpacificwilddotorg.wordpress.com/

  • All of the dots in blog.pacificwild.org.wordpress.com would have created an invalid web address, which is why we spelled out the dots.

If you’d like to, you can change that following http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

As for entering your blog address, there appears to be something wrong with your subdomain configuration. Please check this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-subdomain/

I have read that support guide about 17 times now, it’s where I am directed every time I have a question. Can you help me further?

When I type in the blogdotpacificwilddotorg.wordpress.com url, the error message I get is for blog.pacificwild.org, which seems to indicate that the blog is properly mapped to pacificwild. Also, I was unable to use the blogdotpacificwilddotorg.wordpress.com url before I mapped it to pacificwild either.

Any further assistance would be greatly appreciated, this project has been unnecessarily frustrating.

    Thanks

  • blog.pacificwild.org doesn’t appear to be a valid subdomain. What CNAME value did you enter for it?

Our domain is with islandnet. Under DNS manager, there are these titles:
Host Name TTL Type Aux Data

    I entered the following:
    host name: blog
    ttl: [blank]
    type: CNAME
    Aux: [blank]
    Data: blogdotpacificwilddotorg.wordpress.com

  • That last value there is actually reporting as “blogdotpacificwilddotorg.wordpress.com.pacificwild.org.”

I recommend contacting your registrar about this.
