Can you help me fix glitch in Tumblr Import Tool please?

I subscribed to WordPress so I could consolidate my many subject-specific tumblr blogs into one broader subject WordPress blog. At first, the Import Tumblr tool worked well. I clicked on the import button for each tumblr blog one by one and completed the process at a pace of about 10 seconds per blog. Now, however, I’m getting never-ending “in progress” spinning pinwheels, and haven’t been able to get past the problem via the “clear account information” button or the “disconnect from tumblr” button. Can someone please help me figure out what’s wrong all of a sudden. Very discouraged.

    Hi there,

I’ve gone ahead and killed the Tumblr import jobs from the back end for your blog. It should be ready to try again soon!

In case you weren’t previously, I would recommend that you fully import one blog at a time so that there’s a smaller chance of the importer getting stuck again.

Thanks for your efforts, but I just tried it again (1030pm Eastern time) and same problem. However, I just notice something that may or may not be causing the problem. Almost all of my tumblr blogs are claiming to have 1 more post than they actually have for some inexplicable reason, and I’m wondering whether this has WordPress interminably searching for that one more post.

Another issue which may or may not be related to this one – my WordPress blog RSS export feeds to my business websites are not sending any of the more recent blog posts.

    Hi there,

I just went and took a look at your Import page for Tumblr, and there are two Tumblr blogs listed there right now:

    http://nj-personal-injury-attorney.tumblr.com/
    http://nj-anesthesia-accident-attorney.tumblr.com/

Each of which has one post on them. I went through your blog at WordPress.com and verified that each post has now been imported successfully!

In regards to your RSS feed, you can review it yourself here:

    http://doingjusticenews.com/feed/

I went through it manually, and I verified that your first 15 or so posts all match up with feed items. It may be that your feed reader aren’t picking the items up, but they are being published on the feed itself.

Hi. Thanks for your continued efforts. I’m not sure what your looking at but my WordPress Tumblr Import page lists 24 blogs, not 2. Still getting the pinwheels instead of “finished!” check marks on all but two, but it looks like all the tumblr blog posts have all come through somehow, and have also gotten around to exporting out to my business website, so go figure.

I still suspect that the interminable pinwheels have something to do with the fact that Tumblr is telling WordPress that there is one more post on each blog when they’re isn’t. I’ve inquired with Tumblr about this.

In any event, is it your understanding that the WordPress import tools and not automatically self-updating like an RSS feed and have to be periodically updated manually?

    Hi there,

You are correct, the Import tools are designed to be one-time imports. They are not meant to be used as a means to continually aggregate streams from other sources, such as Tumblr.

If you post again to your Tumblr blog, then you will need to go in, reconnect, and then re-import your blog.
