Can you help me get my site back?

Let’s get this out of the way: I’m an idiot.

About 6 months ago, I registered the domain reptifiles.com to be hosted by WordPress. Free WordPress hosting didn’t offer what I was looking for (big surprise)and because of the 60-day rule, I had to wait before transferring to a different host. So I abandoned the site to continue working on the original, alittlebitofeverythingplease.com.

Fast-forward to the present day. I am ready to transfer the domain reptifiles.com to a new host so I can actually have a URL that reflects my brand name. However, when I try to log in to reptifiles.com/wp-admin, I get an error message:

“User mariahhealey55 Cannot Access the Dashboard Requested

“You are logged in as “mariahhealey55” and do not have the necessary privileges to access the dashboard for “reptifilesdotcom”. If you are not “mariahhealey55”, please log out, and log back in with your username. If you are “mariahhealey55” and you need access, please ask an administrator of the site to invite you.

“If you reached this screen by accident and meant to visit one your own sites, here are some shortcuts to help you find your way.”

The domain was registered 6 months ago. I have no idea which email it was registered under (I’ve checked the ones I use, and whatever I used then must have been one I created for the site itself, and have since forgotten), and so I have no information whatsoever about the site’s “birth.”

So I’ve come to the crux: Do I wait for the domain to expire and then relicense it? Since I registered it with a free WordPress plan, will it ever actually expire? Should I give up hope and buy a similar domain to start from scratch? Or is there something else to try?

Thanks in advance for whatever help you can offer.

  • Hi there,

I cannot give you the email address used for the account that bought that domain, but I can tell you the username is mlhealey55

You can type that username on the password reset form, and an email will be sent to the correct email address with a link to reset your password.

If you don’t receive an email, and it’s possible you don’t have access to the email account any more, you’ll need to use our account recovery form. The form requires you to verify your ownership in some way. As you have a paid upgrade on that account the easiest will be the PayPal transaction ID. You can get that from PayPal even if you don’t have a PayPal account.

Huh. If there was a PayPal transaction, my records give no indication that it happened. I did look up the domain registration information though, and found the date that I first registered it. So I guess I’ll have to wait until then to repurchase! Fun…. Thanks for the help, kokkieh.

  • PayPal is our payment processor. So even if you paid via credit card and don’t have a PayPal account, there is still a record of the transaction with PayPal. Your bank statement won’t say PayPal, it will say WordPress.com. But the financial institution that processed the payment was PayPal.

If you provide them with the required information about the transaction, they can give the transaction ID to you, but you need to contact them to get it.

That page is linked in the page I gave you before.
