Can you help me identify a font ?
-
Hi there
I have a question that has kept me busy quite a week no but I don’t see to find the solution.
I am thinking about changing to fonts of my blog. A font that I like a lot is the one of this blog: http://www.luxury-executive.com/blog/2016/1/31/24-hours-at-the-andaz-tokyo-toranomon-hills
However, I tried everything but I am not able to identify that font.
I was wondering if someone here could identify this font, and whether it’s offered by wordpress.
Many thanksThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there!
Here’s a link to your font, it’s Futura-pt. https://typekit.com/fonts/futura-pt
In the future an easy way to identify a font is to do the follow.
Step 1: Use Google Chrome Browser
Step 2: Right click the page with desired font.
Step 3: Click on the code that is displayed and hit ‘Control + F’
Step 4: In the search box that appears type “font”
Step 5: Look through the lines of code for the “Font Family”
Step 6: Enjoy your new font!Hope this is helpful!

Hi @luxurytravelexpert, Futura PT is one of the fonts we offer. You can set it for Headings, Base font, or both at Customize > Fonts.
-
Thank you very much to both of you!
Two additional questions:
– I can select Futura PT for the headings but it’s not in the list of the base fonts. Is there any possibility to add it ?
– what do you mean with “right click the page with desired font” ?
Kind regards

testAnd perhaps another question, but by following your advice, the font family indicates that the font is “Europa”

If you’re not familiar with html or using the inspect element within chrome that advice might be a little to much for you at this point. I’d suggest checking out some free tutorials from “thenewboston” on YouTube.
The font is definitely futura-pt though so I’ll leave it there for the happiness team to determine if that don’t is available within WordPress.
Hope everything works out!

@luxurytravelexpert, some fonts are more appropriated for headings than for the base font due to readability at the typical smaller size, and our system will filter the fonts available for each based on that. Font makers will sometimes see a font they think is cool and they will make something that is very similar that they can sell or offer and then put a different name on it. Futura and Europa are two such fonts from what I can see that are very similar, but from different font makers.
If you want Futura as both fonts, we can do that with CSS. Go ahead and apply that to Headings at Customize > Fonts and save and then let us know and we can give you the CSS so you can see how the base text would look with that font. I think after you see it, you will realize that readability will not be great and you may then wish to choose another one of the fonts available for the base text.

Hi there,
thx so much for your always (very) valuable advice.
I assume it won’t be a great font since you judge the readability not to be great.
However, I still like the Futura font on the website I mentioned in my question: http://www.luxury-executive.com/blog/2016/1/31/24-hours-at-the-andaz-tokyo-toranomon-hills
Would it be possible to copy that layout in my blog (with same font, size and space between lines) since I find it to be great with excellent readability (better than the font I am using now) ? And if so, how do I do that or can I get the CSS for that ?
Many thanks -
On that site, the titles are in Futura PT and the body text is in Europa. Europa is not offered here at WordPress.com as one of the custom font options, and we cannot add fonts from outside of the system. On your site, Open Sans is the default font for the base text, which is about as close as we can get to Europa.
I would suggest setting Futura PT as the heading font and then on the font weight button on left below the font selection, select “Light”.
For the base text, I would try PT Sans, Noto Sans, Arimo and Karla and see what you think with those. Let’s see if we can find a font that will be acceptable to you and then once we have, we can adjust size and line height and such to get it to look like you want it to.
