Can you help me out.

When you go to Manage-categories- you can add a description.
I am trying to raise awareness about the problems associated with wind
farms. The descriptions are pro wind farm. I didn’t put them there and
they are not comments. They just showed up in the last couple of days. I think I’ve been broken into. Can you help me out.

it’s possible that they showed up because someone else used the category and wrote them (we all use the same catgeories here).

either way, you should send in feedback from your dashboard, as that’s something only the staff can fix.

Whether you write in favour of wind-farms or in opposition to wind-farms the category/tag is still “Wind-farms”. Therefore all posts tagged with the category “Wind-Farms” will appear on the same wordpress.com tag(s) pages(s) whether you wrote them or any other bloggers using the same category title “Wind-Farms” wrote them.
    Here is the work-around.
If you want your posts to be separated from the posts of other bloggers extolling the presumed virtues of wind-farms then you could create a “Stop Wind-Farms” Category. In that case all posts written by yourself or other bloggers in opposition to wind-farms and tagged with the category “Stop Wind-Farms” will appear together on the same wordpress.com tag(s) page(s).
Now this may prima fascia appear like an elegant off-setting but, what you lose will be any dialogue with pro-wind-farm people and with it any opportunities to sway the opinion of those who may be open to hearing your arguments against wind-farms.
The choice you make depends on the kind of blogger you want to be. If you are open to civilized discourse and argument you could choose the first option. However, if you wish only, in essence,”to preach to the converted” and share information with those who are already on side you could make the second choice.
I’ll leave you to ponder the choices. If you go to this blog you will find articles on tagging and categories that will be helpful http://lorelle.wordpress.com

I want everyone pro and con to exchange ideas. I have a category Canadian wind power.
Does that mean that if someone else uses that category what they write in their description will end up in my description.
    Or
I make a category and ad a description like Are wind farms as good as we’re told they are.
Some one else has the same category and writes a description like Wind farms are the best thing since sliced bread. Should I see that description in my category.
Had this blog since Oct and just in the last couple of days descriptions in my Manage categories have changed.
So do I just delete them and put my own descriptions back or do I just ad to them.
I have really enjoyed using wordpress

Oh no, I think I misunderstood what you were saying in your original post. I’m beginning to think you have a serious problem that needs staff to sort it out.
No information should appear in the description boxes of your Categories on your own blog other than what you typed in there. (I’m assuming you are the sole blogger and Administrator of the blog in question).
If you are the sole Administrator of your blog and there is anything in your Category description boxes on your blog that you did not type there please send a feedback to staff at once. Include in that feedback (copy and paste) all the information that you cannot account for that appeared in those boxes.
I’m so sorry I didn’t get what you were saying the first time around. :(

I never use these description boxes myself. I only assign the Category title and hierarchy were applicable.

You said: “I have a category Canadian wind power.” But I do not see it in your sidebar. I cannot see category tags on your posts either.

    (1) Do you have other Administrators, Authors, Editors with access to this blog?
    (2) Have you shared your password with anyone?
    (3) Have you shared your API key with anyone?

Be sure to include such information in your feedback to staff.

I didn’t bother with the categories in the sidebar The only person I shared anything with is fighting a wind farm so I don’t think she would add pro wind farm descriptions. Besides she can’t figure out how to use wordpress. I’ve been waiting for someone to screw with my blog so I keep two updated and two ready to go. Might just be some kind of fluke.

I did have a couple of visits from a company called Repu Trace.

Some company that tracks websites and blogs for information that corporations might not like the public to see.
Just got an email from Mark I sent my question and your reply.
He just said no one can add anything but me. I don’t think he got it.

    I’ll try again

The Categories you assign to your posts are what makes them accessible to others on the wordpress.com tags pages.

Placing the categories widgets in your sidebar means that I or any other reader can click on for example “Canadian wind farms” in your sidebar and find every post with that category assigned to it on your blog.

The only times a blog has ever been “breached” here was when the blogger shared the blog with other Administrators, Authors, Editors, shared the passwords with others or shared the API key.

We are all working on the same multi-user blogging platform here at wordpress.com. And as Mark has replied to you I’ll stop posting now.

I use the tags so people searching on google can find the blog and information they are seeking.
    Works good.

Google will pick up any titles, headings, and keywords and images embedded in posts in your blog. It takes 4 -6 weeks for the process of their spiders finding a new blog and for the information they find to be displayed. They only update rankings 4 times annually. The last update was January 11th. MSN and Yahoo search engine spiders are by far first out of the chute and the results are available much more quickly. But we are off topic so good night. :)

I get listed in google in a day. Tag it and ping it Technorati and bingo.
