Can you help me pick a product that fits my needs?

  I upgraded to premium not really understanding what I was getting – it sounded like it would prevent random ads from appearing on my site, is this true? Also it included the domain name registration and I only now realize I still need to renew it every year. So I am wondering if the $99 was really worth it. I have NO computer expertise. Can you recommend how to proceed? I would like to put some ads on my site of my own choosing – is this ever possible? Should I request a refund and only pay the $18 annual for the domain name if that is all I am able to do?

  Premium does give you the No Ads upgrade, which you can read more about here: No Ads

  That’s right – domain registrations work on an annual basis at every registrar, it’s not a one-time cost.

  If you require other advertising, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions on advertising if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities, which may not be ideal in your situation.
