Can you help me to complete my Domain Mapping?
-
More than 48 hours ago, I updated my Domain’s name servers on my registrar’s website to the 3 WordPress name servers shown on your Domain Mapping guide. My registrar’s website now shows that these have been changed to the 3 WordPress name servers. However, when completing the process on WordPress.com on Settings> Domains, entering my Domain and clicking Add domain to blog, the message says ‘Domain not pointing to WordPress.com’ . I have repeated this several times, always with the same negative result.
I understand that such changes do not happen quickly but it has now been more than 48 hours!
This is holding me back from publishing my new WordPress website on my Domain. As far as I can see, I have complied in every detail with your guidance.
Can you please sort this out for me?

Thanks. It is http://www.dlhvillage.org.uk.
Before initiating the Domain Mapping, I did raise a WordPress.com support request (879430), on 20 July, asking a few preliminary questions. One of these was to give this Domain and I asked if there was any reason why this should not work. The reply from Paolo on 23 July did not address this point and I therefore assumed that the domain would be OK. -
Actually, your registrar should not have allowed you to save the nameservers since we didn’t have a zone record on file.
I have manually added a zone record for your domain.
You should now be able to map it here following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

Thanks for your help. I have now followed the guide again and tried the mapping again – several times but with no success! Can this next step tale several days again?

According to this, your nameservers are still not directed to us: http://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/dlhvillage.org.uk
I recommend contacting your registrar about this.

Many thanks: this is really helpful. I did not know about the What’s My DNS website otherwise I would have used it.
I have now contacted my registrar and asked them to fix the problem. As a suggestion, it might be useful to include the What’s My DNS link on your Map Existing Domain support page if people have similar trouble to mine.
