can you list individual post titles in categories in archives
-
First query, new user, probably a very simple answer.
I can’t work out the following. How do you create lists of the titles of your individual posts, so when a blog visitor clicks on a ‘category’, or ‘monthly’ archive, they can find/see a drop-down list of all the older post titles? So visitors can then directly select the piece/work they might want to read. Been digging through Support Notes, no joy, maybe I’m looking in the wrong places.
Thanks Rob K

You cannot create dropdown lists of posts.
What you can do is switch to one of the few themes that display titles instead of full posts on arhcive pages:

Or to one of the themes that support custom excerpts on archive pages:

(If you edit your posts and type a space in the Excerpt module of the editor, archive pages will display titles only). -
Thanks very much for your help, who ever you are!
Have had a look at the 2 links you have sent me and will dig carefully through that material at the end of the week. Could I please leave this query ‘open’ in case things go pear shaped and I need to get back to you? Am definitely not of the Twitter /Facebook Texting generation so I am not yet fluent in rapidly answering to posts like this.
Thanks again,
