can you only like my blog if youre a wordpress user?
-
Hi there, I have friends and family, and friends of friends who have read my blog and would love to ‘like’ it but it asks them to sign up for a wordpress account. These people aren’t bloggers and they don’t really read other blogs so there is no need and they don’t really want a wordpress account. Can only wordpress users like my blog?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
According to the documentation here it does indeed appear that to use the WordPress.com “Like” button they need to be WordPress users: https://en.support.wordpress.com/likes/
A good alternative may be to add various social media accounts and buttons so they can “Like” the blog via one of those avenues (Facebook, Twitter, etc) depending on what they use.

Hey,
Liking a blog post is somewhat similar to how ‘likes’ work on Facebook posts, or ‘favorites’ on Twitter. In order to ‘like’ stuff, they all require you to have an account on their network, so that the likes can be identified and linked to profiles.
WordPress.com is also a similar network, where bloggers can like, reblog and comment on posts, plus discover new content in the Reader.
Indeed, a WordPress.com account is required, but not a blog! People can signup just for a username/profile, without creating a blog — this is the sign up link.
