Can you please help with IE css distortions?

My blog (symposium.kenan-flagler.unc.edu) is working great in Chrome, but in IE its colors are all messed up for the Skylark featured slider near the middle. Is there any way you can help? I’ve reviewed the Skylark CSS code and it looks like you guys have a section that deals with IE compatibility.

Is there a way for the colors to not be faded out in the featured sticky post slider in IE (yes I have the most recent version) but retain the rich colors for Chrome? Do you know the CSS code that needs to be added?

Also, if you could even point me to the right wordpress online community to seek help, that would be appreciated if you can’t give me a CSS code hotfix.

Thank you for your time and thought…
    Gratefully,
    Jacob

    Hi there,

I went ahead and loaded up your site in both Windows IE10 and the most recent version of Chrome on Windows, and I wasn’t able to see a difference in the slider. I took a screenshot of the site so you could see what I saw:

    http://grab.by/l3ge – IE10
    http://grab.by/l3gs – Chrome

What are you seeing that is different, so I can get a better idea of what is going wrong?

This is what it looks like to me. As you can see, the featured slider and buttons are ghost-like and the wrong color.

Does this help? Thank you for getting back with me.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the screenshot! The whiting out looks like a disabling of the jQuery-powered slider, so it may be that your IE or Anti-Virus is preventing it from loading entirely (or is showing it as faded to indicate a “potential threat”). You can review your IE security settings by going to the Advanced tab of Internet Options.

You may also want to review if you have any other add-ons enabled which might prevent jQuerys or JavaScripts from running without permission!

Oh, thank you so much! This is a huge relief- I really appreciate it.

However, I’m concerned that many other people who simply want to use my website for information might have the same problem and not know to change their settings and rather than our website is poorly made.

Is there some CSS backup code I could add as a safeguard for people who have this problem?

    Heya,

No, there would not be. If their security settings are causing a section of a page to be disabled then there is nothing that the page can do to over-ride that change other than to not have the code in the first place.

So actually I suppose I did misspeak! You could remove the slider function from your blog and go with another design option or a different theme, which would prevent the potential appearance to other viewers.

Thanks so much for you help again! You have increased my admiration and gratefulness for WordPress and its company culture. Have a great day!
