Can you please remove a link to our site from one of your WordPress.com blogs?
-
We have been contacted by Google through Google’s webmaster tools specifically requesting us to remove a link on http://carsguide.wordpress.com. Our link is in the Blogroll, on left side of the site. The link uses the anchor text “Car Body Kits” and links to [redacted]. This specific WordPress.com site has not been updated since 2007 and we did not request our link to be placed here.
Google’s exact message to us states:
We’ve reviewed the links to your site and we still believe that some of them are outside our quality guidelines.
Sample URLs:
http://carsguide.wordpress.com/2007/05/page/9/This website was the only URL that Google is having an issue with. Please remove this link to our website as soon as possible, because it is directly affecting our relationship with Google and their search results.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly [redacted]
Thanks and have a great day!
David

This the WordPress.com technical support forum and if you must contact a blogger directly you do NOT do it through these forums. You contact them directly by using contact information or a comment box on their site.

Their site has not been updated since 2007 and has no contact form or information. We need this link removed immediately as the parent site is WordPress.com. Thanks!

There is no expiration date on blogs unused, reserved or otherwise. There is no expiration date on blogs unused, reserved or otherwise. If you can make contact on your own with the owner of an unused blog via a contact form or commenting, then providing the are agreeable fine. In the case that there is no contact information Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.

We have no choice in the matter, but to make this happen. Can we get WordPress.com to contact their member in order to get the link removed?
-
You do have a choice in the matter. You can choose to let it go knowing Staff is not going to violate the privacy policy and remove anything form someone else’s blog just to improve your SEO.
-
We are not asking staff to violate anything. We are merely asking staff to contact the member and explain to them the situation with the request of removing the link.

I will also need this post deleted as I thought I was contacting WordPress directly, not posting on a form. This post contains my private information. Thank you.

We do not remove content from WordPress.com sites unless it is a violation of our Terms of Service or we receive a court order or a valid DMCA request. For more information on how to file a complaint, please see: http://en.wordpress.com/complaints/
You are welcome to contact the site owner, should they provide contact information, to request the removal of this content. It is up to them to decide whether or not to comply with this request.
-
The WordPress member does not supply contact information on their WordPress.com website, that’s why we were requesting WordPress.com to contact their member directly. We will go ahead and provide a court order, if this is the hoop we must jump through. Wish it was easier.

I do see the ability to report a spam blog. I would consider this Worpress blog a spam blog, http://carsguide.wordpress.com. Would this be an appropriate observation?
-
We will go ahead and provide a court order …
Oh really? On what grounds would any judge grant such an order … LOL :D
