Neither. The ONLY way to have paid advertising of your own on a WP.com blog is to pay six hundred dollars a month for the VIP program.

Advertising is not allowed at wordpress.COM at all, even if you get a domain name and map it to your blog here. The restrictions still apply.
To advertise, you have to self-host a blog on a third-party hosting site (godaddy, dreamhost, bluehost, etc.) using the software from wordpress.ORG. Figure $10 to $25 per month combined cost, but that can go up depending on bandwidth and storage requirements.
With a self-hosted blog, youi are responsible for all installations, configuration, upgrading, backups, and troubleshooting.
