Can you put flash banners in the header?
-
Just need to know before I start making one, wouldn’t want to produce one and see that I can’t use it. :P
-

Here are the measurements for headers for each different theme:
-
timethief- dammit, oh well…swore there would be a way to do it, seems you can do anything with wordpress…
nosysnoop- Umm, lets try to read more carefully next time kiddo. :P
-
hanso – I still have a 50-50% chance of you proving me wrong so go for it. I like this new silver and blue header you’ve got now better than the black one. And don’t be down on nosy, eh or else we chicks will be very unimpressed and that can give rise to scorn.;)
-
haha, I don’t know enough about wordpress to prove ou wrong. :P
and thanks, the new banner is ok, my colleague doesn’t seem to like it though, says the font is too “childish”…haha
which is why i wanted to make a flash header, thought that would be really neat, can it be done with wp.org?
-
(1)You can get lots of free fonts on the net. Why don’t you look for some more?
(2)Sorry but I don’t know if it can be done on wordpress.org.
(3) There are instructions in the FAQs blog that tell you how to wrap text around images.:) -
huh, guess it can be done…still have a lot of reading to do though…

100% positive it can’t be done on wordpress.com.
unless you export it as a movie, and convert it to an animated gif. which can only be used with regulus.so, a) host your own with the goods from wordpress.org
b) beg for faunalive to be included when fauna is updated
c) host your blog on blogspot.*EDIT*
i took to long. those google results pertain to the host-your-own version. check out

Wait, but you’re saying if I just convert the flash to a gif regulus would take it?
Heh, on second though, regulus is actually a better template than contempt IMO…
-
You can do ANYTHING with a wordpress.org blog.
This is because all you are doing is downloading the software to put on your own hosted blog. You can then put whatever you like into a theme.
:)
-
You can try the convert to an animated gif method which was what i was going to suggest but others have reported that it appears that the software here turns off the animation. I don’t have any way to test it myself around here and have not heard back from staff on teh subject.

@drmike – It sure does.
Aside for drmike:
Over on support at wordpress.org which of course has a completely different code base than wordpress.com [she said so people here on wordpress.com would not get the wrong idea] someone just came up with a header with a flashfader.
working example: http://www.m-etropolis.com/wordpress/?language=en
thread: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/80241 -
It’s the cropping that stops animation–it makes your image a new, static file from the old one. Since Regulus doesn’t crop, that’s why animations work.

No, you mis-read my post above to drmike. I said that the animations *DID NOT* work when inserted into the regulus header. -
I realize this post is old, but putting FLASH headers into WordPress CAN be done! Don’t believe me? Check out http://mahvin.com and become a believer. Then head to Kimili Flash Embed plugin (in your browser search bar) so you can do it, too.
This post was NOT resolved, but it is now…
