can you recommend, a book or course for a beginner of web site?

    I am new to web site design & WordPress, I have been looking at books & courses to help me.
    Can you recommend either for me.
    I live on Hayling Island, Hampshire.

    For sites hosted here at WordPress.com, you shouldn’t need a book or a course! It’s very user friendly.

    I recommend first going through our new user’s guide here:

    That will give you a quick overview of our various features.

    Hi, I have replied to your suggestions (via E-Mail, whilst I found them very interesting, I could not find how to put a print or submit option on the bottom of a form.
    Also I have copied a form (produced in Ms Word), which keeps losing its format, I have copied & pasted, also used the word option to import it, I have also edited it in WordPress & updated all with no success.
    Hence (as a silver surfer), I would find a course helpful, so I could discuss the problems face – face.

    Hi Neil – You can put a contact form on your blog by following these instructions:
    Contact Form

    Copying and pasting from Word does not work very well, especially for things like forms or tables that have complicated formatting. Word processors have one kind of formatting, and blogs and websites use HTML, which is different.

    You’d be better off either providing the Word document to your readers as a download link as described here:
    Uploading Documents

    Or you could embed it on your blog using a service like Scribd:

    Some people do teach intro workshops in WordPress.com; it depends on where you live. You might also look to see if there is a WordPress meetup near you: http://www.meetup.com/
