    Dear WordPress team,
I did create a webpage for ‘josiewalks.com’, but forgot to pay the web domaine and fee at your firm.

Is there any way we could retrieve the date from the site and remake it the way it was back in 2020?
I would be happy to pay the missing fee’s up until now ofc.

I really hope you can help me!

    All the best,
    Josephine

    Hi there!

I checked our records and found that the domain was never hosted by us at WordPress.com. If you used WordPress on that site, it was from WordPress.org, and your site was hosted by a different hosting service provider.

There are some differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. If you aren’t sure about them, please check the following page that explains it well: WordPress.com vs WordPress.org.

You could contact the hosting company to see if they happen to have a backup. You could look through your old email receipts if you don’t remember who your hosting service provider was. If you still can’t find it, or your previous hosting service tells you they don’t have a backup, you may be out of luck.

One idea I have is looking through the wayback machine and copy-pasting the content that was archived. I see there are a few snapshots from around 2018, so you could look at them and copy the content into a new WordPress.com site. It probably won’t have all the content, and it’s definitely not an alternative to having a proper backup, but it may be better than having absolutely nothing.

On that note, you can create your new site with us at WordPress.com. We provide hosting, and different WordPress.com plans that have different sets of features. You can check out all of the WordPress.com plans here, but we can help with choosing the best plan for you if you tell us more about your site. The domain is also available for registration, so you could register the domain with us. (If you upgrade to a yearly WordPress.com plan, you’ll get a free domain registration credit for the first year.)

For example, what’s the site for, and what features do you need to add to your site? Once we know more about your site goals, we can share more personalized suggestions with you.
