Can you stop counting spammers?
-
I got hit by a spammer today and you congratulated me. Seriously people. While he/she didn’t succeed because I have the site locked down for comment spam, she/he racked a heck of a lot of visits in 10 minutes. Or they were trying to find a way to scrape.
To find an accurate detail of this visitor, I had to refer to my gostats to find it was 49.183.184.88 and further information.
I am not complaining about the spammer. I’m complaining because you are treating them like a regular visitor and telling me about them. I came back here because I was tired of fighting them on my site so I got rid of wordpress, went to concrete5 and moved the blog here. I really don’t want to be congratulated for how my blog is growing because some nitwit spammer bot ran up visits while trying to post.
You really need to work on that stats thing.

Oops! I just saw that the mdlook tag was already in the sidebar. Sorry about that oversight.

Hi rpmas,
Thanks for the feedback. Our spam fighting algorithm powered by Akismet is always being improved to catch spam and bot attacks. However, spam/bots are also evolving.
In this case what I believe happens is that you got hit by a spam bot that Akismet doesn’t recognize yet. if the bot is leaving comments best thing to do is mark the comments as spam to help train Akismet.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

I have a total of 229 spams blocked but have not seen where I can look at them. What is the setting for blocking spam

Hi @deniray,
You can view your spam comments under the “Spam” tab in the Classic Dashboard. If you click on Comments > Spam you’ll be able to approve or empty your spam.
As a friendly reminder, in the future please start a new thread and tag it with “modlook” (no quotes) for staff attention instead of asking your question within an existing thread.
