Can you transfer a free WP.com theme to WP.org?

I just purchased my domain via Bluehost and found only a dozen free themes using WP.org! Is there a way to use the free WP.com themes and transport them into my WP.org account? If not it would have been helpful to know that before I spent the money…

Where will your site be hosted, over at Bluehost?
You can add any free WordPress.org theme to your site under Appearance > Themes. Click “Add New” and you’ll be able to search the WordPress.org repository directly from your dashboard.
Or you can visit https://wordpress.org/themes/, download a theme there, and upload them to your site via Add New > Upload Theme. The collection of themes will be the same, either way.
If there’s a free theme on WordPress.com that you don’t see on WordPress.org (most of them are) you can download it by visiting its WordPress.com showcase page (there’s a download link on each page) and then uploading it via Appearance > Themes, Add Theme.
