Can you use other themes on wordpress.com?

  I want to use this theme called Simple Portfolio — http://organicthemes.com/demo/simple-portfolio/ but I’ve heard that you can’t use other themes on wordpress.com. Is that true? If I buy a CSS upgrade, will I be able to use this theme?

  We cannot add themes at wordpress.COM. We are limited to the themes found in the dashboard under appearance > themes. Themes found on the internet are for self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG.

  Themes here have to be modified to work within the restrictions here and to support the unique features here. Themes straight off the internet (which are for self-hosted blogs) will not work here.

  The CSS upgrade is just that. It gives you the ability to stylize the themes here by editing and changing the CSS. It does not give you the ability to upload themes. There is no upgrade for that.
