Canapé Theme – hero images

I’m not clear on how hero images are rendered with the Canapé theme. For example, when I inspect the Canapé demo, I see that the hero uses both a background-image and an img tag, and that the img is hidden with CSS.
When I inspect it on my phone, I see the same thing:

https://cloudup.com/cq_ymvXdPIiIt seems like it’s always loading both versions of the image – even on a phone – and that it’s never displaying the img tag because CSS is hiding it.
I love the theme and am using it on a self-hosted site, but just figured I’d point this out in case it’s unexpected behaviour.

Hi Brian, thanks for bringing this up. I spoke with the Canape developer and while there’s a technical reason for the two images, we may be able to refactor it in a future version of the theme. Our developers will have a look to see if that’s doable.
