Canape – Timeout on Testimonials

    How can I get contact data for the designer of the canape theme? I am in need of changing the timeout on the testimonials slideshow. I’ve had contact with several WP staff members to try to accomplish this and all of them tell me it is hard coded in the theme and cannot be changed. I love this theme and do not want to be forced to select an alternate so I am hoping the designer can help me. Thank you so much!

    Canape was created in-house by the team here at WordPress.com. I took a look over your previous support requests and can see that one of my colleagues, Dennis, has already submitted your feature request to the team.

    I do see that the speed of the slideshow is fast, which makes it hard to read your testimonials, and we’ll get in touch when the team’s reviewed your request.

    Thank you so much! I’ve tried to put in a temporary fix letting people know they can scroll back and forth between the testimonials by clicking on the buttons below the text, but a slower response time would be ideal and much more professional looking. I really appreciate the speed and response from the folks at WordPress though, you’re AWESOME! Thanks for everything!

  • A developer has had a look and determined that the current speed seems like a reasonable compromise — if we made it any longer, then folks might find it too long for shorter testimonials. As a workaround, you might consider trimming down longer testimonials to a length that fits the current timing better.

    What a shame! I understand after realizing it would affect everyone using the script, which I had not thought about previously. I guess our age group reads much slower! LOL Anyway, I appreciate your support and consideration. I did think about trimming the text but felt it did not truly reflect the testimonial given and decided against doing that. I will pass the information along and let my client decide. Thanks again for getting back to me so quickly. :-)
