Canard – Can secondary pages resemble the front page?
-
I’m inspired by this website (if I had my way, I’d just change the header. The page is perfect!): https://karenkavett.com/blog/.
If you click on pages on the menu, you are taken to a page almost identical to the home page, but it only shows the appropriate items (only ‘DIY Projects’, etc). I’d like mine like this so it would show things like only music album reviews (these squares are great for album covers), and only miscellaneous blog posts, but for all of it to be visible on the home page. As of yet, I’ve had to just have a long text list of links to posts. It’s very unattractive, and can’t last forever!: https://npollard.wordpress.com/music-reviews/album-reviews/
My site is a shambles at the moment, and uses the Canard theme. I want to start writing regularly again: http://www.npollard.com . Is my above requirement a possibility in Canard, and if not, are there themes that allow this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, your domain npollard.com currently redirects to your WordPress.com site at https://npollard.wordpress.com/ and it’s currently using the Rebalance theme. https://wordpress.com/theme/rebalance
The site you linked to as an example isn’t hosted here, so we have different options. Have you thought about rearranging your site as a portfolio? https://wordpress.com/support/portfolios/ and https://wordpress.com/support/portfolios/making-the-most-of-your-portfolio/ which will immediately make it more visual.
If you are stuck for images, keep in mind that Pexels free images are integrated with WordPress.com’s Media Library and you can also upload from other free images sources mentioned here> https://wordpress.com/support/add-media/finding-free-images-and-other-media/

Hi @nickopolypse,
I hope @justjennifer doesn’t mind me adding my two cents. : )
If you click on pages on the menu, you are taken to a page almost identical to the home page, but it only shows the appropriate items (only ‘DIY Projects’, etc).
If we’re referring to a WordPress.com site, then you can accomplish that with links to category pages in your menu. See the Category Pages support page for relevant information and instructions.
On sites that display posts in a grid format on the blog page, category pages will display them in the same way. See the “grid layout” filtered list at the WordPress.com Themes Showcase: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/grid-layout. However, I believe that list includes themes where either posts or portfolio projects are displayed in a grid layout. Rebalance is an exception in that both posts and portfolio projects display in a grid layout, as I’ll explain below.
Here’s a brief list of themes with a grid-based or tiled format on the posts page, where each item in the grid or each tile links to a corresponding individual post, include the following:
Themes with a portfolio page template option work similarly. You can arrange groups of projects by type or tag, as described in the Viewing Portfolio Projects section of the Portfolios support page, and include links to them in your menu. The same support page provides a brief list of themes that have the portfolio page template option in its Portfolio Themes section. The full list of portfolio themes is in the Themes Showcase, here: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/feature:portfolio.
The Rebalance theme that is presently applied to https://npollard.wordpress.com/ has both grid layout posts and grid layout portfolio projects. So you may stick with posts and accomplish your goal using category pages, or switch to portfolio projects (as suggested by @justjennifer) and use project types to sort projects into various categories.
